We're more than just a flight school! Our main focus is safety and continued proficiency education through Scenario-Based Training. We also provide flight training towards Private, Instrument, Commercial, CFI, and CFII ratings, as well as BFR and IPC currency reviews. What is scenario-based training? Scenario-based training is an immersive and proven learning technique that provides you with real-world experiences under controlled conditions. This type of training is employed by professional flight departments to maintain a very high level of proficiency for their flight crews. Frequent recurrent training is the key to their amazing safety records, and we firmly believe that pilots of all skill levels can benefit from Scenario-Based Training in a similar way. When you sign up for a scenario, you will receive a packet of information that describes the scenario and its objectives. Included in this packet is a homework assignment designed to help you learn about the finer details of the scenario. We begin each scenario with a ground session to go over these materials and to review the flight. If we will be flying in your airplane, you will be expected to demonstrate that it is airworthy -- please bring your aircraft logbooks with you. We will preflight your plane together and then fly the scenario. We end each scenario with another ground session to review your experience. You will assess your preflight planning, your performance during the flight, and then have an opportunity to ask any remaining questions. Training, or education? There is a big difference between training and education. When you trained for your last rating, your performance goals were defined by the Practical Test Standards. Meeting those minimum requirements, however, did not necessarily prepare you for real-world flying. The VFR and IFR scenarios created by Flight Matters are designed to enrich your flying experience by expanding your knowledge and providing you with continuous proficiency training. We do this by reviewing the latest regulations, flying techniques, systems, and avionics. Some of the training topics we've chosen are easily completed in one scenario. Others are more extensive and are broken up into several scenarios allowing you to focus on just the specific areas that interest you most. The idea is quite simple Fly regularly with an instructor to ensure that you don't develop any bad habits. Learn new skills that build on your prior training to help you become a better pilot. Enhance your knowledge to make you a safer pilot. Scenario-Based Training is strongly advocated by the FAA. It also happens to be the core philosophy of Flight Matters. You can easily maintain a high level proficiency by flying a new scenario with us every month. I'm ready to sign up Flight Matters is located at Lincoln Park Airport (N07) in Lincoln Park, NJ.
